The law, which issued many fees to seed producers under the name of certification, makes it difficult for domestic seed production to condemn farmers to imported hybrid seeds.

Legal ways to cut pre-5553 farmers and seed producers showed responses law institutions established for agriculture in Turkey, organizations and associations were also resorted to litigation for the removal of seed certification. Speaking to our newspaper irrelevant Turkey Agriculturists Association Chairman Huseyin Demirtas, he told the misery of farmers and seed producers.

“SEED MANUFACTURER IS NOT IN A POSITION TO COST THE CERTIFICATION COSTS”

Turkey Agriculturists Association President Hussein Demiştaş, pointing out mistakes in the Seed Act 5553, "the situation we now come to Turkey in the middle of a ülkeyk referred to as the agricultural country. Our seed imports are more than our seed exports. With the Seed Law No. 5553, which is enacted for the protection of seed production in our country, the farmer is re-incurred at the cost of seed certification. Most seed producers are unable to cover these certification costs. This jeopardizes our domestic seed species and leads to the spread of imported hybrid seed.

Hüseyin Demirtas said that the farmers should always be protected in every environment and said, "There are very high quality breeds in our local seed types, but some seed types cannot be yielded every year. The Ministry has to address this issue, while the seed producers are putting the cost. Production without certification of native seeds is of course objectionable, but it is not right to make the certification process difficult and costly. According to Turkstat yield it is decreasing gradually every year in most agricultural products in Turkey. This shows that biodiversity cannot be preserved in the name of agriculture in our country."

Huseyin Demirtas, "the lack of planned agricultural policies in Turkey has led to many problems. Seed certification was something the European Union and America wanted. Agricultural policies in our country have been shaped as the EU wants for the last 30 years and at the last point, agriculture in our country is getting worse every day. Seed Law No. 5553 of just one of them ... Turkey Agriculturists Association have also filed a lawsuit about the legal provisions related to the 35 agricultural institutions that are among them. We expect the results to come. Birçok Many law articles such as the Seed Growing Law were removed without considering farmers' rights."
