Unlike small tradesmen, chain markets, which were exempted from closing completely, turned the coronavirus pandemic into an opportunity.
Market chains, which include many products from haberdashery to clothing, from stationery to auto spare parts, from hardware store materials to technological devices, cause unfair competition.
Regarding the injustice that we brought to the agenda as Milli Gazete with the headline "Small shop chain for small tradesmen" last February, a step that will set an example for other provinces came from Ardahan Governorship.
With the decision taken by the governorship, supermarket chains will not be able to sell products other than food in Ardahan.
THE GOVERNOR OF ARDAHAN SAID STOP THE UNJUSTICE
While the tradesmen almost couldn't open their shutters during the pandemic process and were experiencing great grievances, there was a reaction to the market chains that turned this situation into an opportunity. Finally, in a province, this injustice was said to be stopped. As a result of the initiatives of the Ardahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO), with the decision of the Ardahan Governorship, the sale of products such as shoes, stationery, glassware, hardware and clothing in chain markets within the scope of combating the new type of coronavirus was supported by local tradesmen and in the process of "complete closure" due to the lack of unfair competition. It was stated that it was banned.
MARKET CHAINS CANNOT SELL OTHER THAN FOOD
Ardahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) President Çetin Demirci stated in his written statement that unfair competition occurred in Ardahan during the complete closure process and that a joint decision was taken with the Ardahan Governorship as a result of our chamber's attempts to prevent this.
Stating that unfair competition for tradesmen was prevented with the decision taken, Demirci, "In the meeting we held with Governor Hüseyin Öner, it was decided to close these aisles or their floors in chain markets that will be open during this process in order to prevent unfair competition due to the fact that the businesses selling shoes, stationery, glassware, hardware and clothing were closed during the "complete closure" process. Tax inspections of these enterprises and necessary inspections by the Provincial Epidemic Control Center teams, the necessary administrative sanctions will be applied to the enterprises that are determined to sell shoes, stationery, glassware, hardware and clothing," he said.
