With the new Law on Enforcement, which was published in the Official Gazette, the hopes of young marriage victims were destroyed. 8,000 families, who have been struggling to get their spouses out of jail for years, could not find what they expected in the new Law of Execution. While 90,000 prisoners were released by law, fathers who had to look after their homes remained in prison.
COUPLES WHO PUNISHED CANNOT BENEFIT FROM LAW

PUNISHMENT BETWEEN 10 YEARS AND 20 YEARS
With the New Execution Law, a total of 11 different laws were amended. About 90,000 prisoners are released by law, except for those who have been charged with terrorism, drug trafficking and sexual abuse. While the real criminals, who have been in prison for various reasons such as theft, extortion and smuggling, are released, spouses who have been sentenced between 10 years and 20 years because of their marriage will not be able to benefit from the law.
“MY CHILDREN ARE CRYING FOR THEIR FATHER”
Ayşe Erdoğdu, the mother of 2 children, who jailed on the crime of “sexual abuse” 8 years after their official marriage because they got married at a young age, is expecting to hope that the amnesty law will be enacted and reunited with a new arrangement. Erdoğdu, 24, who lives in Pendik, escaped with her husband, Emrah Erdoğdu, who is 29 years old, whom she met and loved at school in 2012 and married religious. Emrah Erdoğdu was arrested on charges of “sexual abuse” because of their marriage at a young age, and put in prison and released by the court, where he came out 7 months later. The Erdoğdu couple had an official wedding in 2014 while the public trial against them continued. Erdoğdu couple, who has 2 children, faced a new sentence 8 years later. Emrah Erdoğdu, whose trial was concluded and sentenced to 8 years and 4 months of imprisonment, went back to prison in 2019.
WHO WILL GIVE ACCOUNT OF THE CHILDREN'S TEAR?
Speaking to our newspaper, young marriage victim Merve T. said, “We have been struggling for our spouses to get out of prison for years. They took my official wedding husband to jail 9 years after getting married. I was alone with my son. We went to the Turkish Grand National Assembly many times and talked about all the parties. We also met with our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We took his word. They said to us, 'your problem is our problem'. But when the enforcement law came out, they forgot us again. 8,000 families are in shambles. The eyes of 16,000 children grow old, far from their fathers. Who will account for these children's tears?” she said.
