The first half of the 2021-2022 academic year, which started with big problems and could not find a solution, ended yesterday. While the problems became chronic during the education and training season, ‘Eğitim-Bir-Sen’ evaluated the ending season with a written statement. While calling for solutions to the problems in the evaluation, a request was made to meet the expectations regarding the ‘Teaching Profession Law’.

“FIRST PERIOD ENDED WITHOUT SOLUTION TO CHRONIC PROBLEMS”

In the written statement made by ‘Eğitim-Bir-Sen’, it was stated that the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year ended without finding solutions to chronic problems and meeting the cleaning and security personnel needs of the schools. It was underlined that it was the right decision not to give up education and training in the first period, which ended with the hard work of education staff during the pandemic period.

“THE PROFESSIONAL LAW DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS”

Reminding that the negotiation stage has been reached on the ‘Teaching Profession Law’ in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, it was stated that the education community welcomed some positive steps towards problem solving, and it was underlined that it was far from meeting the expectations with its presentation to the Parliament. In the statement, which stated that the law should address teaching with all its dimensions, the law should structure teaching in all aspects, not only confine it to careers, but also improve the social and financial rights of teachers.

“REGULATION ON VIOLENCE TO EDUCATION EMPLOYEES”

In the statement, which called on educators to make regulations on violence, it was noted that those who use violence or threats against education staff should be punished, and in cases of injury, the perpetrators should be considered as arresting crimes. In the lawsuits, it was emphasized that the Ministry of National Education (MEB) should provide legal support within the scope of the personnel's request.

“CONTRACTED AND PAID TEACHING SHOULD BE AVOIDED”

In the statement, which stated that contracted and paid teaching should be terminated, it was underlined that contract employment should be terminated and paid teaching should be abandoned in order to be efficient in education. While it was stated that the interview system should be abolished in teacher appointments, it was noted that additional incentives should be given to education workers working in regions where employment difficulties are encountered. It was also emphasized that the grievances that arise as a result of not meeting the demands of teachers for relocation should be eliminated. It was stated that the regulation to be made regarding the additional indicator should be enacted to cover all public servants.
