Making special statements to the Milli Gazete, BAU MAGS President Associate Professor Cihat Yayci said that they know that Israelis buy land in certain regions in the TRNC. Expressing that there are some concerns about the purchase of land by foreigners from the TRNC, Yaycı noted that Israelis use TRNC citizens to overcome various restrictions. Stating that there are allegations that there are journalists among the TRNC citizens used by Israeli companies as collaborators, Yaycı said that the necessary research and determination should be made on this issue. Expressing that there are also Israelis who were transferred to TRNC citizenship in order to buy land from Cyprus, Yaycı said, "This issue should be investigated. Who are the landlords, how much land did they buy?"
“ARE POLITICIANS INVOLVED IN THE BUSINESS?”
Yayci also brought up a very important issue. Asking if there are any land sales to foreigners near the military zones in Northern Cyprus, Yaycı said, "Why is there no restriction to prohibit the purchase of lands near military zones? Are there politicians involved in it? If there is a situation such as the sale of lands near military zones, it must be cancelled."
Emphasizing that legal arrangements should also be made for foreigners who have obtained TRNC citizenship, Yayci stated that until now, there is information that land has been sold in an amount that falls to two percent of the TRNC's surface area.
“CYPRUS IS LIKE AN AIRCRAFT SHIP”
Expressing that land sales in Northern Cyprus will affect the security of Turkey as well as the TRNC, Yayci said that Cyprus is like an aircraft carrier.
Noting that Cyprus is of great geopolitical, geoeconomic and geostrategic importance, Cihat Yayci said, "Cyprus is a place in the middle of the Eastern Mediterranean. Cyprus is also located in a region that dominates the shores of the Middle East, the Suez Canal, the Kirkuk-Yumurtalık pipeline and the Mersin port. Everyone wants to be present in Cyprus."
Noting that our ancestors made great efforts for the conquest of Cyprus, Yayci concluded his speech by emphasizing that the aim is to eliminate the TRNC.
