The value of 1 euro in Turkish lira to be used in the pricing of medicinal products for human use was increased by 30.5 percent in July 2023, and the decision was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
Thus, the drugs used by the citizens were increased.
Pharmacists, on the other hand, stated that the announced rate is well below the real rate and warned that the problem of drugs that cannot be found in the market will continue.
“REALISTIC EXCHANGE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED, THE DRUG PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE”
Nurten Saydan, Chairman of the All Pharmacist Employers Union, stated that she thinks that the problem of drugs that cannot be found in the market will continue due to the fact that the 14.0387 lira, determined for the value of 1 euro to be used in drug pricing, is far below the current exchange rate.
"We would like to point out that this update is not at a level that will allow the drug to reach the patient. The problem should be solved urgently by adapting the pharmaceutical euro rate to current and economic realities, and the medicines needed by the citizens should be brought to our pharmacies," Saydan said.
