The process continues in the minimum wage negotiations, which concern the general public, especially the approximately 7 million minimum wage workers.

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which held its first meeting the previous day at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, continued its work in a closed position yesterday to determine the amount of the interim increase.

While "TÜRK-İŞ" union, representing the workers' section in the commission, demanded an increase in the inflation rate, the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Associations (TİSK), representing the employers' section, demanded a balanced increase considering the conditions of the enterprises.

After the commission has completed its work, President Erdogan is expected to announce the new minimum wage figure today in Istanbul with the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin, "TÜRK-İŞ" Chairman Ergün Atalay and "TİSK" Board Chairman Özgür Burak Akkol.

REGULATION CHANGE ON THE AGENDA

The decision to raise the Minimum Wage Determination Commission in accordance with the legislation comes into effect at the beginning of the month following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

If the new minimum wage figure is announced today in line with expectations, a regulation change will be required for the increase to be effective as of 1 July.

In this regard, it is expected that the expressions regarding the effective date of the minimum wage in the regulation will be changed as "The minimum wage will enter into force from the date of its publication unless another effective date is specified".
