While the unions called one by one to make an adjustment to the salaries of civil servants, it was underlined that the salaries of the basic civil servants should be increased to a level that could be subsisted.

Discussions on the economic situation of public employees continue. While the unions frequently express their demands for regulation, it is pointed out that measures should be taken as soon as possible against the existing economic problems.

Especially the dusty world that the government has created for a long time regarding the economic conditions does not reflect the realities.

THE BALANCE OF SALARY IN THE PUBLIC PUBLIC SHOULD BE RESTORED

Making statements regarding the status of civil servants' salaries, the Chairman of the Independent Public Servants Unions Confederation (BASK), Mehmet Alper Öğretici, stated that the purchasing power of the fixed-income people has decreased with the increases that are below the inflation figures.

"While real inflation was over 100 percent, when these figures were shown much lower by TURKSTAT, the purchasing power of fixed-income people decreased. It is not acceptable for the given increases to be below even the unrealistic TURKSTAT data. Our demand is very clear; the lowest salary of civil servants should be above the poverty line, and the salary balance in the public sector should be restored. First of all, out-of-pocket inflation losses should be covered," he said.

GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS' PROBLEMS ARE IGNORED

Pointing out that civil servants are condemned to starvation with their salaries, Defense, Office and Support Services Union (SAVDES-SEN) Chairman Tuncay Cengiz underlined the inadequacy of the increases in salaries despite the price increases experienced in every product.

"Making a proportional increase in the base salary instead of giving a fixed increase is the reason for the low increase. Not being given a share of welfare from the growth of the country is also the main source of impoverishment. Fair and equitable distribution has disappeared, injustices in income distribution have reached the extreme, and due to the additional increases given to senior managers and some professionals, including the Law No. 7417, the salary gap between them and the civil servant has increased considerably, and the gap has widened. Our problems are constantly ignored, and we find it difficult to support even our family", he said.
