The eyes of millions of civil servants and retired civil servants were turned to the 7th Term Collective Agreement negotiations, which started yesterday. The demands of the civil servants will be discussed while determining the rate of increase to be made between 2024 and 2025 with the negotiations to be held throughout August.
The 7th Term Collective Agreement negotiations, which will determine the financial and social rights of civil servants and retirees between 2024 and 2025, were hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
While Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labor and Social Security, chaired the first meeting of the collective bargaining negotiations, which will continue throughout August, "Memur-Sen" Chairman Ali Yalçın and representatives of 11 service branches attended to represent the civil servants.
In the first meeting of the meetings, which are expected to continue throughout August, the demands of the civil servants will be discussed.
Ali Yalçın, Chairman of Confederation of Civil Servants Union (Memur-Sen), who was in front of the cameras before the meeting, stated that the offers they brought to the collective bargaining table were reasonable.
"We are starting negotiations today at the Ministry of Labor for the 7th Term Collective Agreement. It is a process that directly affects four million public servants, over 2.5 million retired civil servants, and over 6 million people, directly concerns 25 million people if we take the family of 4 as a base, but also indirectly concerns our entire nation. Memur-Sen, the addressee of the table with its 11 service branches, has already brought its proposals to the public through you, with its authorized unions, as the authorized confederation. In this respect, our offers are suitable offers according to the conditions of the day, considering the market realities, the inflationary environment, and the figures on which the Central Bank has revised its latest targets", he said.
“WE CAME TO THE TABLE WITH OUR REQUEST OF 110 PERCENT RAISE FOR TWO YEARS”
Noting that they consider the economic conditions while bringing their proposals to the table, Yalçın said, "We made a proposal for the 1st year in the form of quarterly periods, including the welfare share. We presented the second year in the form of 6 monthly offers. The main reason why we have made a 3-month offer is that the inflationary environment does not weaken the civil servants in terms of purchasing power, and the low purchasing power that may be experienced due to inflation will take the precaution of the melting in wages, so to speak, it will serve as insurance. That's why we presented our offer with an offer that is close to the scale mobile in a sense. In the second year, we presented it as we suggested in other collective agreements, for 6 months each. In both of them, we have recorded our request as welfare share and we will have carried out the negotiation process over it. We have come to the table with a 110% offer, 70% in the first year and 40% in the second year."
REQUESTS PRESENTED TO ŞİMŞEK
