While this situation between the salaries of public workers and civil servants was met with a reaction by the civil servants, Yusuf Yazgan, Chairman of the Bureau "Memur-Sen" workers union, called for a raise against the victimization.

Türkeş Güney, Chairman of the "Türk Büro-Sen", drew attention to the fact that the amount of increase to be made in July has gained a special importance.

5 days before the election, the amount of increase determined for public workers was announced.

While the announced hike widened the salary gap between civil servants and public workers, the reactions to the determined amount were not delayed.

Chairman of the Bureau "Memur-Sen" Yusuf Yazgan pointed out that the difference between the salaries of public workers and civil servants has doubled with the determined increase.

"Türk Büro-Sen" Chairman Türkeş Güney, on the other hand, called for an increase in civil servant salaries in July.

“THE SALARY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EMPLOYEE AND CIVIL SERVANTS HAS DOUBLED”

Pointing out that the salary gap between the wages of workers and civil servants has increased, Yusuf Yazgan, Chairman of the Bureau "Memur-Sen", stated that the net wage is 16,573 TL with the 45 percent increase determined for public workers.

"As of today, the lowest civil servant salary is 10 thousand 554 TL, and the lowest salary of a public worker with 4/d status is 20 thousand 250 TL. This table shows that the lowest salary of the worker has doubled the salary of the civil servant doing the main job in the same workplace. This is not an acceptable situation. The same injustice is experienced in overtime wages. While the wage paid to public workers for 1 hour of overtime was 66 TL, this figure increased to 112 TL with a 70 percent increase. The overtime wage for a civil servant is 5 lira and 40 kuruş. In other words, an hourly overtime wage of a worker is about 20 times that of a civil servant. This is also not an acceptable situation," he said.

“THE MINIMUM WAGE TO BE GIVEN TO A CIVIL SERVANT SHOULD BE OVER THE HUNGER AND POVERTY LINE”

Yazgan, who called for the regulation on civil servants' salaries not to be waited for in July, stated that he expects the salary regulation of 300 thousand civil servants and all civil servants.

"Salaries and salaries of all civil servants should be improved to a degree that would relieve civil servants. In addition to the increase, an increase should be made in order to eliminate the grievances of the civil servants who receive low wages. Before the 7th term collective bargaining process, the government should take responsibility, and the salaries of civil servants should be guaranteed so that they do not fall below the hunger and poverty line. The lowest salary to be paid to the civil servant must be above the civil servant. It must be above the hunger and poverty line," he said.

“THE WELFARE RATE TO BE GIVEN TO PUBLIC WORKERS TAKES GREAT IMPORTANCE”

Stating that the wages of public workers approached 23 thousand TL with the payments, "Türk Büro-Sen" Chairman Türkeş Güney pointed out that the salaries of civil servants are around 12 thousand TL on average.

"The resulting income differences caused serious reactions among civil servants. Apart from the routine increases to be made to public officials in July, the rate of the 'welfare share', which is stated to be given, has gained great importance as of the moment. It is essential to make a statement regarding the rate or amount of 'welfare share' that will be given to public officials in July. No rate or amount that does not raise the average civil servant salaries to at least the level of workers' salaries can stop the outrage of public officials", he said.

“IT CLEARLY APPEALS THAT THE AVERAGE CIVIL SERVANT SALARY DOES NOT MEET WITH THE DAY'S CONDITIONS”

Stating that the amount of increase determined for public employees will be effective in determining the amount of increase for public employees, Güney reminded that the 7th term collective bargaining negotiations will start in August.

"The way to work peace and quality public service in the public sector is to make a raise for public officials at least as much as the raise for workers in the public sector. Considering the weight of the conditions for obtaining the status law, the importance and responsibility of the public service, it is clearly seen that the average civil servant salary of 12 thousand TL does not comply with the conditions of the day. In July, a slight improvement should be made, especially in the salaries of low-level civil servants, and on top of that, welfare share and a percentage increase should be added," he said.
