Investigating the inflation rates announced by TURKSTAT the other day and the increase in civil servant salaries in July, BASK revealed the meltdown of the increase in civil servants and pensions against inflation.

Stating that civil servants and retirees are getting poorer rapidly in the face of inflation figures, Bayram Zengin, President of the Confederation of Independent Public Servants' Unions (BASK), said, "According to the inflation figures announced by TURKSTAT, inflation increased by 2.39 percent in October. In this case, the 3 percent increase seen in the second half of the year for civil servants and retirees in July completely melted away and a 3.72 percent debt arose for civil servants and their retirees," he said.

Emphasizing that citizens are getting poorer rapidly, Zengin said that every citizen is affected by the cost of living, but people who have no income other than their salary, such as civil servants and retirees, suffer more.

"The fact that civil servants and retirees are inflation creditors means that their impoverishment increases. The government should now hear the cries of civil servants and retirees and ensure that their losses are compensated," he added.

Based on the October inflation figures announced by TURKSTAT, Zengin stated that they carried out a research that reveals the losses in salaries despite the 3 percent increase in civil servants' salaries, excluding family assistance, in July.

"A servant with the lowest salary among the civil servants, the entire 120 TL increase in his salary melted in July, and 2 months before the end of the term, an inflation receivable of 156.86 TL arose," he said.

While the losses of all civil servant titles are included in the research, a 9 to 1 degree and a staff officer will receive 168.09 TL, 7 to 1 degree, and a staff teacher will receive 190,63 TL due to inflation, 8 to 3 degrees. and a general practitioner in the staff will receive 274.91 TL, 12 to 3 degrees and a nurse in the staff will receive 184.43 TL, 12 to 3 degrees and 176.25 TL for a technician in the staff, 1 to 4 degrees and It has been announced that an engineer (office) in the staff will receive 292 TL.

Zengin emphasized that as a result of the research, all the raises given to civil servants and retirees melted away and caused damage, "In short, the 3 percent increase in poverty in the salaries of public officials of all titles in July completely disappeared 2 months before the end of the period. Public officials and retirees will continue to suffer inflation losses until the New Year," he added.
