"The embassy of Palestine has the honor to declare that the Republic of Columbia has decided to recognize Palestine as a free, independent and sovereign state. This resolution is welcomed by the Palestine's people and its Government," reads the message posted on the site of Palestine's embassy.
The diplomats added Palestine has always considered Colombia "as fraternal people seeking for peace".
The authorities of Columbia have not commented on the statement.
