On the anniversary of the Madımak massacre, a meaningful visit was made to Başbağlar from Maltepe Municipality. In the commemoration program where the message that they are against all forms of terrorism was given, 33 of our citizens who were murdered 29 years ago by the terrorist organization PKK in Başbağlar against the brutality in Madımak were commemorated with mercy.
Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç, who came to Başbağlar with a group of local politicians and media members after the commemoration program in Madımak, left carnations in front of Başbağlar Martyrs' Monument.
The program, in which the pain of Başbağlar Village Headman Ali Akpınar and the residents of the village, who survived the attack with serious injuries, was shared, ended with the Quran recitation and prayer.
“WE WILL WIN THE WAR AGAINST TERRORIST”
Speaking in front of the monument built in memory of the Başbağlar martyrs, Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç said, "I respectfully commemorate our lives lost in the Sivas and Başbağlar massacres, whose pain we felt in our hearts as on the first day. Just like in the War of Independence, we will win the war against terrorism. We strengthened our unity and solidarity in Sivas and Başbağlar, where we came with the representatives of political parties in Maltepe. With this painting befitting Maltepe, we will not separate, we will embrace and say goodbye."
“WE ARE NOT AFTER A REVENGE”
Speaking at the commemoration program, Başbağlar Village Headman Ali Akpınar said, "There is still a wound inside of us. We want all unsolved terrorist incidents such as Maraş, Sivas and Başbağlar to be clarified. The perpetrators of the Başbağlar attack, in which 33 of our lives were martyred, have not yet been found. A bottomless pit wherever we went, to whomever we applied to clarify the event. Our concern is that such unsolved incidents should not happen again. This can be possible with the clarification of the Başbağlar attack, the Maraş and Sivas events. We are not seeking revenge, we do not want others to experience the same pain we have experienced here."
