The Confederation of Independent Public Employees' Unions (BASK) took action against wage losses due to inflation in Ankara.
Reminding the losses suffered by civil servants due to inflation, the action called for an additional raise of at least 50 percent.
In another action carried out by the Education and Science Power Solidarity Union (Egitim-Gücü-Sen) with the title "We Can't Get Ahead", a call was made to raise salaries above the poverty line by making adjustments in salaries.
THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT MUST BE REVIEWED BEFORE THE YEAR IS END
Expressing his demand for an additional increase in the salaries of civil servants who are trying to live on the poverty line, BASK Chairman Mehmet Alper Öğretici pointed out that all losses must be compensated,
"As BASK, our demand is clear and unequivocal. All losses from the previous periods should be covered, then the inflation difference should be given, and an additional increase of at least 50 percent is necessary in order not to crush the public officials and retirees into real inflation," he said.
Reminding the interim increase in the minimum wage, Öğretici stated that the collective bargaining table should also be reconvened.
"The collective agreement, which is also valid for 2023, has already lost its validity. Just as the need for a re-evaluation of the minimum wage was felt before the end of the year and an interim increase was made, the collective agreement should be renewed without waiting for August 2023 to cover the losses of public employees and retirees," he added.
"THE INCREASE IS NOT ONLY REFLECTED ON OUR SALARY"
Speaking at the action held by Eğitim-Gücü-Sen on behalf of education workers, Eğitim-Gücü-Sen Chairman Oğuz Özat pointed out that it is unacceptable for education workers to receive wages below the hunger limit.
"Now, every day, we open our eyes with the news of the price hike. On the other hand, the only point where the raise is not reflected is our salary, which is the equivalent of our hard work and effort. The 7% increase in price increase planned for July is unacceptable in any way. Employee salaries should be increased above 20,000 TL, which is determined as the poverty line, no later than today. We do not accept hunger line payroll, we tear it up in public," Özat said.
