Saadet Party Health and Food Policies Board shared with the public the "Vaccine Report" in which it examines the coronavirus vaccine and all aspects of the vaccine application in our country. In the report, important evaluations were made regarding the coronavirus vaccine and its application.

IMMUNIZATION RATE AFTER 2007 95%

In the report, which started with the vaccine types and vaccine development stages, the general vaccination report of our country was included. In the report, it was stated that although vaccination was mandatory in the pre-2007 period, there was a 75 percent vaccination rate due to geographical location, climatic conditions and record-keeping problems. However, it was noted that this figure increased to 95 percent with the support of vaccination practices after 2007 with government policies.

VACCINE REFUSAL INCREASES SINCE 2015

In the report, which referred to vaccine rejection, which is an important topic in vaccination applications, it was stated that the rejection of vaccines in the country increased as of 2015. The report, which also included the reasons for the rejection of vaccines, recorded the following: "Not trusting the vaccine content, not trusting the vaccine, religious reasons, side effects, foreign origin of vaccines, harmful vaccines, autism, negative news in the press, patient rights, court gains, many vaccines at the same time. application and natural life."

In the report, which also includes the history of vaccination studies in Turkey, it was underlined that vaccination studies first started with the establishment of the Vaccine House in Istanbul in 1892, and that the Central Hygiene Institution established in 1928 was an important turning point in the field of public health. However, it was stated that with the closure of the institution in 2011, problems in preventive health services arose, and said, "With the closure of the institution, there was a decrease in education and research in the field of public health, and the Ministry of Health remained far from the contribution of the most important consultancy institution in public health issues. The negative effects of this distancing have once again become apparent during the pandemic period."

DOMESTIC VACCINE STUDIES SHOULD BE SUPPORTED

In the report, where vaccination studies against the Covid-19 pandemic were also mentioned; It was emphasized that 12 vaccine studies were initiated in Turkey in 2020, but only one of these studies could move to the Clinical Phase-1 stage, and it was noted that Turkey was insufficient within the scope of Covid-19 vaccine studies, and that support for domestic vaccine studies should be increased.

CHANGES FROM COUNTRY TO COUNTRY

In the report, which includes information about the CoronaVac vaccine of the Chinese Sinovac Biotech, which is preferred by Turkey as a vaccine, "The effectiveness rate of the vaccine varies from country to country. In the Phase 3 phase, it has been revealed that the effectiveness rate of the vaccine is 78 percent in Brazil and 91.25 percent in Turkey. Finally, in Indonesia, which approved the vaccine, it was announced that the vaccine was 65 percent effective.

CONCERNS MUST BE RESOLVED

In the report, which underlined that there is hesitation against the vaccine in some part of the society, it was stated that access to information on its contents is limited and the results of Phase 3 studies are not scientifically published, the public should be confident in vaccinating Sinovac, a company with doubts about company information, rather than just vaccinating in front of the press, with more grounded information.
