Construction cost index increased by 1.16 percent in February and by 17.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The increase in costs thus exceeded the annual inflation rate of 11.92 percent.
The 3rd Ordinary General Assembly of the Construction Contractors' Confederation (IMKON) was held in the Assembly Hall of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO). İMKON General Chairman Tahir Tellioğlu said that the Contracting Service Law, which regulates the contracting industry, should be removed as soon as possible. Touching on the problems of the construction sector, Tellioğlu stated that the increase in iron prices brought the construction sector to the point of finishing.
Tellioğlu, "Iron and steel products in the last 1 year kilogram price rose from 1.45 liras to about 3 liras bending the contracting industry. However, the construction sector has been hit hard by the fact that the market and the sales have been stagnant in excess of 50 percent of the prices raised for the materials used in the construction sector. No solution to the extreme rise in iron and steel prices has been found, and the destruction of the construction industry has been abandoned at the mercy of nearly 20 iron and steel integrated plant owners. "
THE SECTOR SHOULD BE SUPPORTED
Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) President Gürsel Baran also announced that they will work to solve the problems of the construction sector as the new administration.
İMKON is the biggest roof organization of the construction sector, remarking Baran, said: "The construction sector not only builds the future of our country, but also. In parallel with population growth and urbanization, the need for housing, the state's investments such as dams, roads and bridges are constantly increasing, and the construction sector is increasing in our country. Our contracting firms are operating all over the world and signing successes that embolden our chest. Removing the bureaucratic obstacles in front of our contractors, disciplining the industry and preventing any contractor from doing so must be avoided."
