Documents that the CIA has shared with the public have been widely quoted in the "March 12 Memorandum,". In the "Turkey" heading of the "secret" stamped intelligence bulletin dated March 11, 1971, which is among the access documents, it is seen that the command level of the Turkish Armed Forces at the time, "can intervene in the political situation within 24 hours".

The CIA has opened access to documents that have been at least 25 years old and have been removed from their privacy over the Internet. Approximately 12 million pages of documents that were previously accessible only from four National Archives in Maryland were uploaded to the CIA website. Among these documents, it is seen that the "secret" stamped intelligence bulletin dated March 11, 1971 under the heading of "Turkey" contains the information that the command level of the Turkish Armed Forces can "intervene in the political situation within 24 hours".

The section of the bulletin in Turkey contains the following statements: "The top command of the Army can intervene directly in the worsening political situation within 24 hours in the appearance of civilian administration. There is no longer any question mark as to whether the army will intervene, but what will be the form of intervention ... "The text on which the following line is drawn says:" The decision on what kind of special measures the Armed Forces should take is that may taken in the Command Council of the Armed Forces in Ankara yesterday "The next line of text seems to have been closed.

If the documents related to the recent acts of CIA are shared with the public, we will see what kind of treachery the US holds in our country as we are allies with them for years.

There is no longer any question mark as to whether the army will intervene, but what will be the form of intervention ... "The text on which the following line is drawn says:" The decision on what kind of special measures the Armed Forces should take is that may taken in the Command Council of the Armed Forces in Ankara yesterday "

MARCH 12 MEMORANDUM

On Friday, March 12, 1971, Memduh Tağmaç, Chief of General Staff and force commanders signed the memorandum and were announced to the public through TRT, and President Cevdet Sunay was sent to the Senate and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It is stated that the government and the parliament have put the country into "anarchy, brotherhood fight, social and economic unrest" and that a new government should be established for this reason. After the memorandum, the Council of Ministers of the Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel resigned because they could not reconcile the memories of the armed forces with the constitution.

BRIEFING INCLUDES TURKEY PRESENTED TO NIXON

Among the CIA's documents and presented to US presidents, the daily briefings on March 11, 1971 also include the Turkish section. However, it is noteworthy that the part of the Turkey in the briefing presented to US President Richard Nixon was completely closed.
