In this context, while France and the US are participating in the anti-Turkey East Mediterranean Gas Forum, it is stated that Egypt has stepped back from its move that pleased Turkey.
Significant developments are witnessed in the struggle for energy sharing and sovereignty in the Eastern Mediterranean. What happened in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Turkey was fighting justly, shows that the imperialist plans are working perfectly. The latest events in the region where Turkey is wanted to be confined to a narrow area are of great importance.
DID THE GREEK PRESSURE MAKE EGYPT TAKE A STEP BACK?
It is noted that the Greek pressure following Egypt's step that pleased Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean has yielded results. Accordingly, it was stated that Egypt changed the tender announcement after the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias' visit to Cairo.
After the tender, which was announced by Egypt on February 18 and will end on August 1, was held in compliance with the continental shelf limits China declared to the UN on November 13, 2019, "Is there a convergence in Turkey-Egypt relations?" the question was raised.
Worried about Egypt's step that pleased Turkey, Greece put pressure on Egypt and tried to dissuade Egypt from its decision.
CRITICAL STATEMENT FROM THE GREEK MINISTER DENDIAS
According to the information in the international press, Greek pressure on Egypt yielded results and Egypt took a step back.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias recently went to Egypt's capital Cairo and had a series of meetings. While there was no official statement from the Egyptian front regarding the issue, Dendias met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri and announced that the problem between the two countries was resolved.
Dendias said, "According to the new map published by Egypt, we believe that this issue at the technical level is over."
HOW DOES IT AFFECT TURKEY-EGYPT RELATIONS?
Although there is no official statement from the Egyptian front, it is striking that the statements made by the Greek Minister Dendias are correct.
Because it is clearly seen that Egypt's publication of a map that approves the theses of Greece is not acceptable by Turkey. At this point, it remains a matter of curiosity how this development, which is expressed to be experienced on the Athens-Cairo line, will affect a possible convergence in Turkey-Egypt relations.
USA, OBSERVER IN THE IMPERIALIST ALLIANCE
Another development in the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum was the admission of the USA to the forum with an observer status. While the observer status of the US at the forum was approved, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made anti-Turkey statements. Saying that they are "worried" about some of the actions of Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean in the past year, Blinken claimed that in some cases Ankara "took provocative actions against Greece". Blinken's words once again demonstrated the pro-Greek stance of the United States.
