Against the obesity disease, which has increased at a serious rate in recent years in Turkey, a call came from the dietitians against the inadequacy of the appointment of dietitians. Despite the nutrition and dietetics department, which has an average of 6 thousand graduates per year, the few appointments made have attracted reaction from the dietitians. Dietitians called for 10,000 appointments.
WHILE THERE ARE 6,000 GRADUATES ANNUALLY, ONLY 415 APPOINTMENTS WERE MADE LAST YEAR
While the number of graduates and unemployed dietitians continues to increase each year in nutrition and dietetics departments, where an average of 6 thousand graduates are given each year, while the majority of newly graduated dietitians cannot be appointed with 415 appointments made in 2022, dietitians express the demand for 10 thousand appointments.
HIGH KPSS SCORES ARE ADDED TO THE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF GRADUATES
With the universities opened in every city and the departments below them, the way to give serious graduates annually in many departments, new graduates become victims as job doors are not opened to these graduates at a sufficient level. Noting that high Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) scores were added to the insufficiently opened quotas, the dieticians underlined that the KPSS score of the last appointed dietitian in the appointment made in 2020 was 93,60.
DEPARTMENTS SHOULD BE CLOSED IN MISSING SCHOOLS, 10 THOUSAND APPOINTMENTS SHOULD COME
Regarding the increasing number of graduates, the dieticians stated that the nutrition and dietetics programs of the universities that are lacking in terms of academic staff and inadequacy should be closed, and pointed out that this will pave the way for the graduates to be fully qualified in a professional sense. In addition to these, he drew attention to the necessity of appointing 10 thousand dietitians and expanding the project of employing dietitians to family health centers, which was tried as a pilot application, throughout Turkey.
