Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to the lands under Israeli occupation as part of the ongoing "normalization" steps between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
The Turkish delegation, which met with the Palestinian authorities in Ramallah two days ago, also met with the Israeli regime officials yesterday.
While Çavuşoğlu was welcomed at the airport by Israeli officials, it was the first foreign minister-level visit from Turkey to the Israeli regime after 15 years.
MINISTERS MADE STATEMENTS
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a joint press conference with Israeli Regime Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in Jerusalem. Çavuşoğlu said that they agree with his counterpart in adding new energy to relations with Israel.
"We agreed to bring new energy to our relations in many fields and to create different mechanisms from now on. Working on a positive agenda can also help us handle conflicts constructively," Çavuşoğlu said.
Israeli Regime Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also made a statement together with Çavuşoğlu.
"After the first visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister in 15 years, we expect improvement not only in diplomatic and security but also in our economic relations," he said and announced that they agreed to restart the mutual joint (Turkey-Israel) economic commission initiative.
WORD PLAY BY ÇAVUŞOĞLU
Before meeting with the Zionist officials, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu resorted to a word game to argue that the Palestinian front supports normalization.
"We continue to coordinate with the Palestinian Authority in the normalization of relations with Israel," stating his words, Çavuşoğlu has previously said that Palestine wants our relations with Israel to be normalized but a statement of refutation came from HAMAS to Çavuşoğlu.
HAMAS, the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, reacted to the "normalization" in relations between Turkey and the Israeli regime and stated that the situation in question was unacceptable.
WILL ISRAEL DECEIVE US AGAIN?
While the wind of "normalization" between Ankara and Tel Aviv continues at full speed, the results of the previous "normalization" with Israel raise concerns. So that; The Israeli regime did not keep its promises with the Mavi Marmara agreement, on the contrary, the situation in Gaza had worsened. Now, as Israel is embarking on a new "normalization" process, it is feared that Israel will deceive Turkey once again. At the beginning of Israel's commitments with the Mavi Marmara agreement was the lifting of the blockade on Gaza. Since the signing of the agreement, Israel has intensified the blockade instead of easing it. While there is a serious food crisis in Gaza, this situation leads to an increase in diseases. Another issue that Israel promised was that Turkey could easily deliver aid to Gaza. The Israeli regime, which does not fulfill its commitments, allows very few of the basic humanitarian aid supplies to enter Gaza.
BENNETT WILL BE COMING SOON
Following the visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the accompanying delegation to the lands under Israeli occupation, Israeli regime Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is expected to come to Turkey in the near future.
President Erdoğan, who made a statement on the subject in the past weeks, "The issue of natural gas may come to the fore as one of the most important steps we can take together in bilateral relations. The arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Bennett is in question. With his arrival, we may be able to start a new process in Turkey-Israel relations," he had said.
