59 in 2012, now 1,683… Physician immigration has increased 28 times in the last 10 years… Doctors are leaving! Disruptions in the health system, pandemic, violence, workload and the economic problems added to all these have increased the rate of emigration of physicians serving in the most important field of the country. Thousands of young people who became physicians after many years of training in order to provide health services to their people, turned their faces abroad due to the problems that reached a dead end.
DOCTOR'S MIGRATION TABLE IS SCARY
The problems experienced in the health system with the pandemic have started to take place at the top of the agenda in recent years. While struggling with many problems from financial and personal rights to working conditions, the departure of physicians who continue to provide health services, revealed the negative picture in health.
INCREASED 28 TIMES
The data shared by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) revealed the dimensions of physician migration. Physicians who want to work abroad can receive the ‘Good Conduct certificate’ from the medical chambers of the provinces they are affiliated with and they can apply to health institutions abroad. According to the data shared by the TTB on the subject, the demand for documents has increased approximately 28 times in the last 10 years. While there were only 59 document requests in 2012, this number reached 1,683 in the first eight months of this year. TTB called for the government to develop a solution to the problems in the health system instead of ignoring this migration picture.
