Discussions on the "Teaching Profession Law", which came into force after its publication in the Official Gazette in February, continue.
On the subject of the inadequacy of the Occupational Law and the examination to which the regulation of expert teaching and head teacher in its content is connected, education unions demanded regulation or change.
"THE LAW MUST BE PREPARED AGAIN"
Stating that they have stated that the Law on the Teaching Profession in force has been deficient and inadequate since the beginning, President of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞDER), Hamdi Sürücü stated that a regulation is necessary on the basis of exams.
"Since the professional law was presented as a proposal, we state that there is no professional law. This law only deals with career ladder and additional indicator. The name of this law should be changed and the teaching profession law should be made again. It needs to be prepared again as a broad law that addresses all the issues of teachers. If it is about career exams, there is no exam to give a career. The exam should only be to identify people who want to make a career. Career part should be determined by training. All teachers have common points, but the areas that a vocational high school teacher should specialize in are different, and classroom teachers are different. Teachers should be trained in accordance with their fields and then their expertise should be given," Sürücü said.
“TEACHING LAW MUST BE CHANGED WHEN THE PARLIAMENT IS OPENED”
Pointing out that teachers are at the top of the most worn-out professions in Turkey, Anadolu Education Union (AES) Vice President Nihat Örs stated that the education system could not hold its own.
"A great injustice is done to our teachers, who have proven themselves with their experience, proving their proficiency by passing the exams, who have become experts by getting their education, and our teachers are being discredited. If the Ministry of Education wants to give a career to the teacher and show that it values it, it should increase the income level of the teacher. It should abolish the distinction between contracted, paid and permanent staff, and improve personal rights. He should take into account the diploma he received with the sweat of his brow and the exams he passed. It should provide career transitions by year, without exams. When the Parliament is opened, the Law on the Teaching Profession should be put on the agenda first, the teacher's reputation should be restored and the law should be changed," Örs said.
