Stating that the career speciality applied for other personnel in the public sector and the career speciality of teachers are different, Türk Eğitim-Sen Union Chairman Talip Geylan said that the quality of the job done by the person in career speciality in other areas of the public sector has changed and the new position is a new staff, while in teaching, the job done and the quality has not changed with the speciality given.

Stating that as a union, they demanded that the career year be taken as a basis instead of the exam, Geylan stated that they reacted by showing the practices in other public institutions as an example, and said, “It is not correct to equate and compare specialist teaching with career expertise in the public sector. Because in career expertise in other areas of the public sector, the nature of the person's work changes and the new position is a new staff. However, in the Ministry of National Education (MEB), there is no difference in the quality of the work done by a non-specialist teacher and a specialist teacher or head teacher. The nature of this work is the same. No additional qualifications are required for specialist teaching or head teacher positions. And also, specialist teaching and head teacher is not a new staff.”

Stating that the reactions given on the subject were wrong, “The judgement of everyone who comes before him, the speech of the one who has a mouth, looks very ugly and drags the issue to different channels. As the union, we say that every teacher who has completed 10 years should be considered as a specialist and every teacher who has completed 20 years should be considered as a head teacher,” Geylan added.
