Head of the Conscious Teachers Association, Hamdi Sürücü, pointed out that a solution is expected against the problems of education, and called for a solution to the problems of all teachers working in the sector by reconsidering the Law on the Teaching Profession, which is in practice against the problems experienced by teachers as well as the problems of education.

“THE TEACHING PROFESSIONAL LAW IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL LAW”

Expressing that they have objected to the Teaching Profession Law since the day it was proposed, Sürücü, noted that the law in force is not a professional law.

"Teachers have many problems. A law should be established that includes the problems of private sector teachers such as paid, contracted and permanent teachers. The current law consists of a law with only 3600 additional indicators and regulations on career steps, rather than a professional law. The Law on the Teaching Profession should be repealed or replaced by a law that really offers solutions to the problems of the profession," he said.

“WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR THE TEACHING PROFESSION TO GAIN VALUE AGAIN”

Drawing attention to the fact that the teaching profession has been devalued as a result of the implemented systems, "In Turkey, teachers have been turned into civil servants who only control students. The profession of teachers should have value. A new study is required to achieve this value," Sürücü added.

“APPOINTMENT PROBLEM NOT SOLVED”

Recalling the statements that the majority of the teachers in Turkey were appointed during their rule, which was frequently brought to the agenda by the ruling wing, Sürücü stated that the appointments made in 20 years did not solve the problem.

"The fact that there is a shortage of around 150 thousand teachers and teachers waiting for appointment shows us that the problem has not been solved," he said.
