Turkey can stop the executions and tortures in Egypt… 95 people are waiting to be executed in Egypt!

It has been 9 years since the military coup against the first and only elected President of the country, Mohammed Morsi, on 3 July 2013 in Egypt.

Abdülfettah Sisi, who seized the power of administration in the said process, committed many murders through the judiciary while he was persecuting the members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

More than 1,500 people have been arrested so far by both civil and military courts in politically-influenced unfair trials in Egypt.

So far, 105 of these prisoners have been sentenced to death. Currently, 95 people sentenced to death are awaiting execution in their cells.

“WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST UNJUSTIFIED EXECUTIONS”

The Justice for Human Rights Institution has prepared a report on political executions carried out through the judiciary in Egypt.

While the aforementioned report was being presented in Istanbul, Mahmoud Jabir, the Official of the Justice Institution for Human Rights, also answered the questions of the members of the press.

Mahmoud Jabir, who made a presentation to many local and foreign press members, including the Milli Gazete, said, "We are meeting here today to express our opposition to unjust death sentences. I want to underline one point. The right to life is a fundamental right. Opposing unjust executions is a humanitarian duty. Decisions made in Egypt for 8 years have a political character. Egypt is one of the countries with the highest number of death sentences for politicians. It is not possible for us to accept the unjust executions in Egypt. We will fight against these decisions."

105 EGYPT CITIZENS HAVE BEEN EXECUTED IN THE LAST 9 YEARS

Making a presentation on the judicial persecution in Egypt, Justice for Human Rights Authority Official Mahmoud Jabir said that 105 Egyptian citizens were executed in the last 9 years. Stating that all of the cases in question contain political elements, Jabir noted that the Sisi administration uses the law to eliminate its opponents.

Jabir, regarding the issue, "The execution rush continues in Egypt. We need to stop this unfair execution train. We have not been able to prevent the executions so far, but we can prevent the next ones. The only crime of names such as Mohammad Beltagy, Osama Yassin and Ahmed Arif, who are among the people sentenced to death, is to be dissident. The judgments of the Egyptian judiciary are not independent. Judges make decisions under the influence of politics," he added.

“WE ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE APPROACH BETWEEN ANKARA AND CAIRO”

Mahmoud Jabir, Official of the Justice Institution for Human Rights, answered the questions of the press after his presentation on the Sisi persecution in Egypt.

"Do you think that the rapprochement between Turkey and the Cairo administration in the last period may be instrumental in the freedom of the members of the Muslim Brotherhood in prison in Egypt? At this point, what are your expectations from Turkey?"

Jabir answered as follows:

"Turkey is one of the countries that knows the injustices in Egypt best. We are very pleased with the rapprochement between Ankara and Cairo. Turkey can stop the executions and tortures in Egypt. Assuming such a role will make us even more pleased. We are ready to do whatever we have to do in this process."
