The uncertainty in the electoral threshold that the government is working on continues. Regarding the regulation, which is expected to come to the agenda of the Assembly with the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, President Erdoğan stated that the election threshold was set as 7 percent, but it is stated that the MHP wing is not satisfied with the 7 percent. While the MHP's vote rate falls below 7 percent in some polls, the uncertainty in the election threshold continues, while the expectation stands out as the threshold to fall to 5 percent.
MHP WANTS 5 PERCENT, NOT 7 PERCENT
It is expected that the first agenda item will be the change in the election legislation with the working hours of the Turkish Grand National Assembly to start on 1 October. While the end of the regulation that AKP has been working on for a long time is approaching, the uncertainty regarding the election threshold continues. President Erdogan, on the election threshold, said, “It has been clarified at 7 percent. Although the MHP says, "The MHP also looks at 7 positively," it is stated that things are not like that in the MHP wing. While the low rate of votes in the polls makes the MHP nervous, the MHP wing thinks that it would be better for them to have a 5% electoral threshold, not 7 percent.
UNCERTAINTY WILL BE DISCONTINUED UNTIL OCTOBER 1
While the uncertainty in the election threshold continues, it is estimated that the People's Alliance partners AKP and MHP will seek reconciliation until October 1. It is stated that the new election threshold will be determined by taking into account the results of the recent surveys. However, according to the conversations in the backstage of the MHP, it is considered certain that the threshold will be lowered to 5 percent.
