After the Electronic Voting System was implemented in some countries of the world, it came to the fore in Türkiye as well.

The Electronic Voting System, which is a preferred system in terms of providing security and convenience in elections, is planned to be implemented in the near future.
 
Ahmet Yener, Chairman of the Supreme Election Board (YSK), "As the board, we are planning to make a study after the local elections and present it to the parliament and our political parties," he said.
 
Chairman of the Supreme Board of Elections Ahmet Yener also stated that the preparation process has started in the YSK before the local elections expected to be held on March 31, 2024.
 
"The calendar for local elections starts on 1 January. We started our preparations for the local elections after the second round of the presidency ended on May 28, 2023. First of all, we will discuss the legal changes regarding the local elections, reveal the arrangements we need to make in the institution regarding this, and start making the relevant arrangements in our circulars accordingly," Yener said.
 
While electronic voting has kept its place on the agenda in recent days, Yener noted that they will make statements about it.
 

"WE WILL MAKE A STATEMENT"

 
Yener states that the electronic voting system is now legally possible for abroad; but he stated that it has never been used until now. 
 
"My personal opinion; Türkiye will eventually switch to an electronic voting system. Will this happen in the next election or after two or three elections; but that will eventually happen one day. We, as the board, are thinking of making a study after the local elections and presenting it to the parliament, to our political parties, it is appreciated by the parliament. If such a will arises, the Supreme Election Board will make preparations accordingly, take the necessary measures for the electronic environment and carry out this application successfully," Yener added.
 

“STARTS ON JANUARY 1”

 
Yener also stated that the preparation process has started at the YSK before the local elections expected to be held on March 31, 2024.

Electronic voting can be done by kiosks, Internet telephony, punch cards and optical ballots. Electronic selection is in practice in countries such as USA, Estonia, Switzerland, France, Canada, Brazil.
