While the minimum pension was increased from 5,500 lira to 7,500 lira, 50 days before the elections, the fact that retirees with a salary of 7,500 lira and above could not benefit from this increase caused reactions.

While 50 days are left for the elections, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the minimum pension will be increased to 7 thousand 500 liras in the program he attended.

The increase made to retirees who receive inflation difference every 6 months, only to the lowest pension base wage, brought along discussions.

While there was no change in the salaries of the citizens who paid high premiums due to the regulation, it revealed the imbalances between their pensions.

DISCHARGE BETWEEN PENSIONS WILL INCREASED FURTHER

Stating that all retirees should benefit from salary increases, experts commented that the regulation would undermine the trust in the social security system.

Making a statement on the subject, Kazım Ergün, Chairman of the Retirement Association of Turkey, said, "In order not to close the monthly gap between those who pay less premium and those who pay more premium, an increase should be made in the monthly salaries of those who pay more than 7 thousand 500 liras. This arrangement is necessary for the reliability, prestige, norm and standard unity of the social security system."

CIVIL SERVANTS EXPECT A RAISE TOO

With the increase in pensions, civil servants also expected a new hike.

Civil servants, who received a 30 percent increase above the inflation gap in January, complain about the loss of their purchasing power in the face of the rising cost of living.

While the lowest civil servant salary was 11 thousand liras, the hunger limit increased to 9 thousand 425 liras.

While it is expected that the hunger limit figure that will be announced by Türk-İş in March will exceed 10 thousand liras, it is stated that the difference between civil servant salaries and the hunger limit may decrease to 500 liras.

The civil servants, who were crushed many times below the poverty line, demand a new increase in their salaries and open the gap with the hunger limit.
