In the coming period, our priority is to raise our children properly, starting with the family. This change requires a total education and training reform rather than ordinary curriculum modification."
President Erdoğan said: “I think we have accomplished historical monuments and services in every field in the past 18 years with a sincere accounting, but we have not achieved the progress we desire in education, training and culture. In the coming period, our priority is to raise our children properly, starting with the family. "This change requires total education and training reform rather than ordinary curriculum modification." President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Ibn Haldun University Complex Opening Ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan wished that the complex of Ibn Haldun University, which started to serve after the completion of its first phase, would be beneficial. Stating that the complex was built with inspiration from Mimar Sinan, President Erdoğan said, “I believe that undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students will open new doors in the field of social sciences in our country in this atmosphere. Although it has been a very short time since it started its activities, our university gives signs that it is worthy of this mission. Ibn Haldun, named after our university, is accepted as the founder of the science of sociology in the world. He accepts this as ümran science. Ibn Khaldun, who passed with science and management in geographies such as Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, presented these experiences to the benefit of humanity with Muqaddimah. In fact, this framework also summarizes the values on which Ibn Haldun University is built.”
WE COULD NOT ESTABLISH OUR INTELLECTUAL POWER
Stating that we have a young population but we cannot fulfill our civilization vision properly, President Erdoğan said, “Our media has the most modern infrastructure but it does not reflect our voice. We cannot explain ourselves to the world, even on the issues where we are right. Therefore, I believe that we still have not been able to establish our intellectual power. Nobody should be disturbed by this search. The end of this search means the disaster of a country or society. What we need is innovation that takes its inspiration from tradition. Of course, there is no such thing as leaving the automobile and seeing the horse as a means of transportation in our daily life. Our problem and quest is different. I believe that we cannot build ourselves a much better civilization by just following the dominant intellectual understanding and actual order in the world. Our only indispensable are the ways of our belief. It is possible to reinterpret and produce everything else. We will neither turn our backs on the thousands of years of accumulation of humanity, our nation and belief, nor refuse the possibilities of the modern world. In fact, human beings are an entity that renews itself sometimes for the better, sometimes for the bad. We are not chasing the idea of manufacturers in the area, as in all areas, dry dry westernization obsession besides Turkey is a country that has remained exposed to many perverted ideologies and movements of the poison. The reason why we lose our intellectual power to a civilization that does not belong to us in terms of its root and spirit is that these perverse currents are opened consciously. The effort to raise an amorphous generation has cost our country quite dearly. What we need to do is to raise generations suitable for our civilization unit,” he said.
"Total education reform is required rather than ordinary curriculum modification"
President Erdoğan said, "The education and training system of our country from past to present is based solely on uploading material information to our children. While the emphasis was placed on teaching at each school level, the education part was neglected. While the power of traditional education decreased, especially with the influence of the media, it could not be replaced with a better one. The minds of our children are filled with Western popular culture and perverted delusions. In the coming period, our priority is to raise our children properly, starting with the family. "This change requires overall education and training reform rather than ordinary curriculum modification."
