President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the gala premiere of the award-winning Turkish movie 'Grain' held in Ankara.

Directed by the famous Turkish director Semih Kaplanoglu, the Grain is a dystopian drama inspired by a chapter from the Muslim holy book Quran.

Speaking at the Gala, Tuesday, at the Presidential Complex, Erdogan said: "I believe that Grain movie would see the attention it deserved both in the country and the abroad as from Mr. Kaplanoglu's another movie 'Honey'.

He also applauded the determination and effort of the director, Kaplanoglu, who spent five years on the movie.

Erdogan noted the movie has led to very serious questing through the relationships with nature as well as with science and technology.

After its world premiere at the 23rd Sarajevo International Film Festival, the film was screened at film festivals in Turkey's Adana as well as Germany; United Kingdom, Brazil and Japan.

The movie, which is also known by its Turkish name Bugday, won the Tokyo Grand Pix award at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival earlier this month.

Shot in the U.S., Germany and Turkey, the film stars Ermin Bravo, Grigory Dobrygin and Cristina Flutur along with its leading actor Jean Marc Barr.

“It is a post-apocalyptic story set in a world where those that survive, are divided between the remnants of cities and agricultural zones,” according to Internet Movie Database’s (IMDb) website.
