Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Monday that he will talk about Syria, the refugee crisis and the July 15 coup attempt during his visit to the U.S. for the UNSC summit.
Speaking during a press conference at Istanbul Atatürk Airport before leaving for New York to attend the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Erdoğan said the Syrian crisis did not only concern its neighbors, but had become a global issue.
Highlighting his safe zone plan to settle hundreds of thousands of refugees in northern Syria, the Turkish president said that U.S. president Barack Obama had agreed on safe-zone during G20 summit last years but did not act on it so far.
He said Turkish military-backed Free Syrian Army's (FSA) advance towards al-Bab will continue as they successfully cleared Northern Syrian border cities from Daesh terrorist organization.
