While the solution package, which will benefit 2,5 million people, is expected to come to the Parliament and become a law, Mahmut Çelikus, Chairman of the Association of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (ESDER), made evaluations on the subject. Çelikus, in his statement on the social security problems of tradesmen and craftsmen within the scope of EYT regulation, said, “We will follow the steps taken for the tradesmen to retire with 5,000 working days. We will be the voice of the tradesmen who work for 18 hours almost every day and who cannot benefit from EYT because the norm unity has not been achieved so far despite being under the social security umbrella. If the citizen, who is insured for 5,000 days, retires, the tradesmen and craftsmen should also benefit from this right.”

“RESOLVING THIS VICTIMIZATION IS OUR PRIORITY”

Continuing his speech by stating that the scope of EYT regulation should be expanded, Çelikus underlined that according to the social state principle, tradesmen should benefit from the same right. Noting that they are in contact with necessary authorities, Çelikus said, “Within the scope of the EYT regulation, we will follow up on the elimination of the difference in the number of premium days, which is contrary to the equality principle of the Constitution. In addition to the number of premium days, we want the grievances of many tradesmen who were not registered with Social Security Organization for Artisans and the Self-Employed (Bag-Kur) although they had chamber, registry and tax records before 2000, to be addressed within the scope of EYT regulation. It is essential for labor peace that tradesmen and craftsmen also benefit from the regulation, which 2,5 million people benefit from. Solving this grievance has become our priority.”
