Local media reported on Thursday that several people are thought to be injured when an explosion happened at a nuclear power plant in northwestern France. French police told reporters there was no risk of a nuclear leak from EDF’s Flamanville facility.

Thursday’s incident occurred at 10.00 a.m. local time (0900GMT) in an engine room, one local newspaper reported. Firefighters and medical teams were sent to the site of the blast.

The plant’s reactors were built in 1986 and 1987. A third reactor will be completed by 2018.
