While it was announced that the preparations for the solution of the problem were completed, the eyes were turned to the cabinet meeting to be held on Monday. Prior to the meeting, the officials stated that the priority was on the delay interest, while a decision is expected to be taken at the cabinet meeting on the PPI, which should be regulated by law.
The regulation that will bring a solution to the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) loan grievances of university students has been completed. While the priority in the regulation was given to the Delay Interests, on the Producer Price Index (PPI), which should be regulated by law, the eyes were turned to the statement to be made by President Tayyip Erdoğan after the cabinet to be held next week.
There are currently 5,5 million KYK debtors in Turkey. In recent days, reactions came because some new graduates had to pay back more than 3 times the amount they received due to the PPI figures added to the amounts in the accounts made for loan payments of many graduates. Against the reaction arrangements will be discussed at the cabinet meeting to be held next week and the result will be announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
PPI REGULATION IS DEPENDING ON THE LAW
Regarding the regulation to be made, the authorities stated that the priority is on the delay interest, and regarding the PPI rates, which have caused the KYK debts to come to the fore in recent days, the issue is related to the law and can only be regulated by law. In the PPI regulation, while the eyes were turned to the cabinet meeting, new graduates called for the PPI regulation to be made.
REGULATION SIGNAL CAME WITH REACTIONS
On the second day of Eid al-Adha, the repayments of student loans received from the state were recalculated. In the calculations, the increase due to the PPI revealed astronomical figures. New graduates, on the other hand, reacted to these increases. Speaking about KYK debts as a result of the reactions, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu said, “We will not victimize the youth regarding KYK debts. After the first cabinet, Mr. President will share the issue with our youth in detail,” and gave the signal for regulation.
