The EYT problem, known as “Victims of Delayed Pension Age”, has been obscure for years. The EYT problem, which affects millions of people, has come to the fore again with the statements made recently. The political power, which lost votes as a result of the economic problems and the crisis in Turkey, caused the statements that government would use the EYT problem as a trump card. The news in the media that the government is working to make EYT members happy rejoiced the citizens, but the Ministry of Labor and Social Security said in a statement the other day, 'We do not have any work related to EYT'. On the other hand, it is known that a study on the EYT problem was started in the past months, but it was later shelved. After the developments that disappointed the EYT members, we, as Milli Gazete, discussed the issue with Emine Kılıç, one of the pioneers of the EYT Platform.

“EVERYONE UNFORTUNATELY SHUT EYES TO INJURY AND INJUSTICE”

Emine Kılıç, one of the pioneers of the EYT Platform, stating that the struggle continues despite the recently published news, statements and developments regarding the issue, “There are thousands of EYT members who have doubled their premiums and days and cannot get their legal right to retirement. Since the ‘income replacement rates’ (ABO) were reduced with the law enacted in 2008 under the name of 'reform', the salary of many EYT members remains below the minimum wage. Unemployed EYT members have to pay ‘general health insurance’ (GSS) to benefit from health services. It has become very difficult to live in the conditions of the country. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. EYT members are also in need of a small salary. No one can say to us 'you are also wrong', but unfortunately everyone turns a blind eye to injustice and injustice," she said.

“THE EYT PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT RELYING ON ANYONE”

Emphasizing that someone should take care of the EYT problem, "It is absurd that those who brag about the aid provided abroad, those who offer countless opportunities to refugees, those who say 'we will land hard in space', those who pay 3 to 5 salaries with privileges to someone and those who clear the tax debt of the rich, evaluate EYT members who demand their legal rights in return for the premiums they paid, as burden. It should be well known that; EYT members have run out of patience. Members of EYT tried to stay away from politics and keep an equal distance from all parties, so there are people with different opinions in the big EYT family. In other words, the EYT members do not have a party anymore. The only concern of EYT members is to get their rights. It is ended to hope retiring, buying a house and a car, and visitting my country. EYT members want to live without needing anyone with only a small salary they will receive," Emine Kılıç added.

“YOU MADE THE EYT A TOY IN POLITICS”

Emine Kılıç said, “Many of the EYT members are people who started working at a young age. Is it easy for women with EYT to work in a private company, industry or service sector? They get into the trouble of a lot of people. If you act with human feelings and the fact of right and justice, not with the fear of votes, the EYT problem will end. 'Formula is sought, work is being done' they say, we have been hearing the same phrase for years, but the problem is clear, the solution is clear. Since you have made EYT a toy in politics, you have no other choice. The EYT member makes the king of politics when necessary. The EYT struggle has now become a matter of honor. EYT members will never give up their struggle for rights, justice and dignity," and added that they will do whatever is necessary to seek the rights of EYT members until the problem is resolved.
