Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, recently announced that the regulation on Retirement Age Victims (EYT) will be completed in January and 1,5 million EYT victims will retire. After the announcement, EYT Federation President Gönül Boran called for the EYT regulation to be introduced not to cause new grievances, and stated that approximately 5 million victims were waiting for the regulation.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, who spoke at the Planning and Budget Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) in the past days, said, “This year, we have organized the issue of 3600 additional indicators with the decision of the parliament. Hopefully, we will present the EYT regulation to the Parliament in December. Currently, if we remove the age requirement, there are approximately 1,5 million people meeting premium days and length of service,” adding that the regulation will enter into force in January. EYT Federation President Gönül Boran pointed out that the number of victims was close to 5 million and said that the process regarding the remaining victims stressed the uncertainty.
“25 YEARS CONDITION WILL FURTHER INCREASE VICTIMIZATION”
Stating that the EYT victims followed the process closely after the announcement, Boran stated that, after the 1,5 million people announced by Minister Bilgin, there were question marks about the process for 3,5 million victims, adding, “Separate discourses in the morning and in the evening. 1,5 million people will be retired, but what will be done for the remaining 3,5 million victims? If the age is not removed, the retirement of the victims will be delayed for 2 or 3 years. With the desired 25-year condition, the grievances will increase even more,” she said.
STILL NO CLARITY IN THE EXPLANATIONS
Pointing out that the details regarding the EYT grievance are still not fully clarified, Boran stated that the EYT grievance cannot be resolved in this way, and said, “There is still no clarity in the explanations. Details will be announced in December. It is known that it will come into effect in January. Information on monthly regulations in 2023 does not exist. It is not known from which month those who enter will be able to benefit from this regulation.”
“REGULATIONS LIKE THE 3600 ADDITIONAL INDICATOR REGULATION CAUSED QUESTION MARKS”
Reminding the 3600 additional indicators introduced last year, Boran reminded that the 3600 additional indicator regulation will come into effect in January and said, “There were also expectations about 3600 additional indicators. The regulation will come into effect in January, but while some people were happy about the details of the regulation, some were unhappy. New grievances arose. While these and similar regulations cause questions in the minds of EYT victims, they cause to increase their concerns about the EYT regulation.”
