The family institution, which is the most basic building block of society, has been seriously injured in recent years.
The family is one of the institutions that have been negatively affected by the wind of secularism, which has shown its effect in our society in recent years.
While it was seen that divorce increased and marriage became more difficult, it became very difficult to establish and maintain a family.
Today, where even the slightest argument is considered a reason for divorce, courthouses are full of divorce cases.
Many children have experienced the drama of witnessing their parents' separation and their mental health has deteriorated.
While the number of divorced couples was 136,570 in 2020, it became 174,085 in 2021.
The crude divorce rate, which expresses the number of divorces per thousand population, was 2.07 per thousand in 2021.
When divorces are analyzed according to the duration of marriage, 33.6% of divorces in 2021 were experienced within the first 5 years of marriage, and 20.9% within 6-10 years of marriage.
As a result of the finalized divorce cases, 174,085 couples were divorced in 2021, while 165,937 children were given custody.
AGE OF MARRIAGE INCREASE IN BOTH GENDER
Another painful situation regarding the family institution has developed regarding the phenomenon of marriage. While it was observed that the age of marriage was increasing day by day, it was seen that there were undeniable cohabitations with the effect of secularism. When the average age at first marriage was examined, it was seen that the age at first marriage increased in both genders. While the average age at first marriage was 28.1 for men in 2021, it was 25.4 for women. The average age at first marriage between men and women was 2.7 years.
YOUTH CANNOT MARRY DUE TO FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
Studies on the decrease in marriages, the increase in the age of marriage and the increase in divorces include many factors among the reasons why young people cannot start a home. Financial difficulties take the first place among these factors.
"Why do not you get married?" While the young people who are asked the question show financial difficulties as the reason, it is stated that even the rent prices are expensive.
On the other hand, it is recorded that as a result of encouraging people to luxury and pomp through television screens, the couples who are going to get married have financial expectations that are hard to meet from each other.
SOCIAL DISCONNECTION BRINGS FAMILY DISCLOSURE WITH IT
Researcher-author Yasin Kuruçay made remarkable remarks about the family institution, which has been hit after coup d'etat in recent years.
Kuruçay, who made evaluations for our newspaper, "The social disintegration experienced brings with it the disintegration in the family. The first reason for this disintegration is in the materialist, pleasure and worldly life-centered Western paradigm. The end of the family institution in Western countries is an indicator of this situation," he said.
NATIONAL ACTION PLAN MUST BE PREPARED
Yasin Kuruçay, who also conveyed what should be done to prevent dissolution in the family institution, stated that 5-year "National Action Plans" should be prepared in order to protect the family structure and reduce divorces.
"The Qur'an begins the adventure of man with the story of creation. This story does not center women and men, but the lofty goals of man. Legal, pedagogical, social, economic and cultural projects that center our civilizational values should be developed. The 'Islamic family' understanding, which is knitted with concepts such as patience, gratitude, mercy, sharing and justice, should be taught to young people who will get married, and trainings should be given within this framework," he added.
“Perverted posts are tearing apart the family”
Making statements to the Milli Gazete, Kuruçay noted that the increasing divorce rates in our country and in the world have caused the trust in the family institution among young people to be shaken.
Yasin Kuruçay said that neoliberal, sexist and deviant approaches cause families to break up.
"The rise of digitalism is one of the main reasons for the disintegration of our family structure. The options offered by the rising digitalism are taking our children away from the family environment. Children and teenagers are vulnerable to millions of on-screen material containing erotic, violent, perverted and miscellaneous falsehoods. The lack of knowledge of family models suitable for our beliefs and civilization values and the inadequacy of examples in this regard are also the reasons for the weakening of the family institution," Kuruçay added.
