Farmers in Ankara's Polatlı district are worried about cost increases. Farmers underlined that they have difficulties in production, especially in the face of sudden increases in diesel prices.
Farmers drew attention to the fact that they continue their production by borrowing money.
"WE CONTINUE FARMING BY TAKING ON DEBT"
Noting that the costs have increased significantly, Farmer Yusuf Encaninler noted that they continue their production by borrowing and called for a discount on diesel fuel.
“We have become afraid to go to the field and start marching. We are trying to plow the fields with a pat, which reduces the yield. The farmer is most demanded by diesel. Let the cheap diesel supplied to ships and yachts be given to the farmers who have fields. We want affordable diesel. A tractor enters the field 10 times. We go into debt and sow our field, but how will we cope? If we do not plant or can not plant for 1 year, we will be foreclosed due to our debts," he said.
“IF I DON'T PLANT, WE WILL BE STARVED”
Reminding that the kilogram (kg) price of the wheat bought from the farmer is 5,5 Turkish Liras (TL), Farmer Recep Kökçen pointed out that the purchase price of wheat does not save the costs and said, “We will make a profit if the kg price of the wheat we produce is bought for 10 TL. In the future, despite the costs, I have to plant. If I don't plant, we will starve. Even if I go into debt, I will continue to sow."
