Felicity (Saadet) Party Deputy Chairman Fatih Aydın published a statement regarding the "Teaching Profession Law", which was presented to the Parliament in the past few days. In the statement, it was stated that the "Teaching Profession Law" presented to the Parliament was presented to the Parliament in a way that is closed to the contribution and participation of stakeholders, indifferent to reactions, criticisms and suggestions, and insensitive to the reactions and warnings of the opposition.

Noting that the "Teaching Profession Law" submitted to the Parliament is lacking in terms of content, Aydın noted that the bill consists of eight articles, excluding the purpose, scope, execution and enforcement articles, and said, "Unfortunately and sadly; While there are no provisions on many issues in the content of the bill, the provisions on the regulated issues are both old and incomplete.”

“LAW CREATES NEW DISCRIMINATIONS TO TEACHERS”

Noting that the law that was prepared and presented to the Parliament cannot be seen as a professional law, Aydın said that the prepared law proposal is more of a concern for teachers rather than increasing respect for teachers. Expressing that it will cause an increase in the number of candidates, “The government and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) confirm with the law proposal that they do not care about the reactions to candidate teachers and interview practice expressed by many segments of the society. A comprehensive discrimination against the teaching profession is being produced under the name of the Teaching Profession Law, which does not abolish contracted teaching, forgets the promise of ending the discrimination based on contracted and permanent teachers,” he added.

“GOVERNMENT SHOWS THE SKILL OF IGNORING THE TEACHING PROFESSION”

Stating that the content of the professional law is not sufficient, Aydın noted that no improvement has been made in the rights of teachers with the law proposal submitted to the Parliament, “It does not contribute that a legal regulation creates a holistic framework for teaching, profession, requirements of profession, teacher training processes, career steps, economical-social-personal rights of teachers, assignment and shifting rules award and discipline practices, educational management position and incentive schemes. Essentially, regarding many of these topics, the content of the bill, aside from the article, is not included in a sentence or even a word. In short, it seems that; The government, which is adept at ignoring the labor of teachers, is trying to prove its dexterity in ignoring the teaching profession with the Occupational Law,” he said.

“OUR TEACHERS HAVE TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAMS FOR THE CAREER”

Reminding the articles about seniority in the law proposal, Aydın underlined that the promise of career ladder is only a discourse, “Up to two years to become a teacher, ten years to become a specialist, and twenty years to become a head teacher, besides an exam requirement. In one provision of the same law, there is a specialization of teachers, but in another article, this is not respected in the eyes of the law. Instead of preparing our children and young people for life, our teachers are exposed to the pressure of preparing for the exam for a career. In addition, it's a cunning trick to buy time with win teachers’ hearts show. The additional indicator promise is enshrined in law, but its implementation is delayed to January 1, 2023. Answer to the question of why the January 1, 2023, can't be given,” he added.

"THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE TEACHING PROFESSIONAL LAW THAT IS 'THE LAW OF SERVICE OF PUBLIC SERVANT TEACHERS'"

Reminding that there are only regulations regarding teachers working in the public sector in the law proposal, but teachers working in private institutions are ignored, “The system that can intervene in prices at the point of private schools and pays incentives for students does not include teachers in these private institutions within the scope of the professional law. In a sense, it puts an end to the title of teachers in private schools and does not accept more than 100,000 teachers as teachers. In this state, the law was enacted as a 'law', which regulates the service principles of the personnel with the title of teacher working in the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and other institutions as a civil servant, rather than being a Teaching Profession Law. It has the qualification of 'reinforced service regulation', Aydın said.
