When the postman entered the neighborhood, a sweet excitement would appear in our hearts and we would head towards the door. While the postman was handing the envelope, he shared our joy and acted with the awareness that what he was carrying was not a piece of paper but love and longing. Those letters, which convey people's longings, love and good wishes, were important to all of us and were read over and over and then kept in a special corner of our homes. Our children in the military, those who went abroad for university education and our distant relatives would convey their feelings through letters and inform them of their situation. Those expressions pouring out from the hearts of our loved ones would have a special meaning in our lives, and centuries-old letters were housed in our homes. In the times when communication was difficult, the emotional bond we established with our relatives was very strong and the love we grew with effort would cover the distance and turn into solidarity.
