Imam Hussein refused to pay allegiance to a cruel dictator and left an honorable legacy that would leave a mark on history by standing up against the dirty actions of this mentality. Hussein's resurrection was a call to those who strayed from the right path, and those who defended the right took his side and became a part of this honorable resistance. For this reason, while talking about Karbala, it is necessary to mention important personalities who, together with Imam Hussein, set their hearts on the cause and shielded their bodies with their souls.
As you may remember, the people of Kufe, who were looking for a safe harbor against the oppression and oppression of the Umayyads, wrote to Hussein, invited him and promised to protect him, but when the Umayyad administration filled their pockets, they abandoned their decision and went to the other side. However, Hussein, who set out for the right cause, did not return, he continued to walk with his friends. Enemy forces, who pressed Hussein in Karbala, were persecuting the Prophet's family in order to reach the opportunities promised to them, and they wanted to break their power.
Imam Hussein and his companions were imprisoned in Karbala on the first day of Muharram, they were deprived of water even though they were close to the Euphrates River, Hussein and his relatives were left to hunger, thirst and loneliness in the scorching heat of Karbala, the roads were closed, their exits and back roads were closed. Returns are not allowed.
Hussein and his relatives refused to bow to the oppressors and strongly believed that their duty was to defend the truth. When they were pressed in Karbala, they faced Hur bin Yazid, the commander of the pioneer cavalry unit assigned by the Governor of Iraq, Ubeydullah bin Ziyad. Husayn turned to this person and said that the people of Kufa had invited him, but they had reneged on their promise, so he could go back. Although Hur was confused by what he saw and heard, he took care to remain faithful to his duty. As a matter of fact, he was a commander appointed by the Iraqi Governor, Ubeydullah bin Ziyad, to prevent Imam Hussein from entering Kufa, but now he was confused and did not know what to do.
Seeing the grandson of the Messenger of Allah in this way turned into a deep pain in his conscience. Hur approached Sad bin Omar, "Why don't you allow Huseyin to return?" said. When Sad bin Omar said, "I don't want it either, but we can't make Ubeydullah accept this," Hur fluctuated between his feelings and his mind, and while listening to Hussein's speech after the prayer, he was experiencing major earthquakes in his inner world and felt the need to review his decisions. Governor Ubeydullah had ordered him to prevent Hussein and his friends from taking shelter in fortified points and to cut off their contact with water. How could the grandson of the Messenger of Allah be subjected to thirst, hunger and violence?
Hur listened to the voice of his conscience and saw the persecution with all its nakedness. Hur saw the darkness on the faces of those who fell under the spell of the sultanate and made luxury, pomp, amusement, waste, vanity, arrogance, arrogance and all the acts forbidden by Allah, and the light that pierced this darkness, then repented and sought refuge in Allah. He regretted it, stood against Hussein, who was carrying the message of the Messenger of Allah, felt the pain in his heart in his entire being, swallowed with pain and begged Allah's forgiveness. It is a pity that the children and grandchildren of the Companions and the people of Kufa who made a promise to him were waiting to slaughter Hussein, the grandson of the Messenger of Allah, and his companions. Hür gathered all his courage and took off the handcuffs that had been put on his feet, silenced the voice that was echoing in his ears, pushed away the darkness swirling above his head with the back of his hand, since death would come once, he decided that it would be for Allah's sake and changed his side. A few hours had ensured his return and salvation, and he rejected all the earthly opportunities, blood-smelling places, and flamboyant lives promised to him, and preferred martyrdom and heaven. Free, now truly free, said, "Even if they tear my body apart, I will never go back" and decided to fight.
When he came to Imam Hussein, he seemed to be freed from a heavy burden that he had difficulty carrying, but he could heal the pain in his heart with repentance. He opened his hands and repented, saying, "My God, I have put fear in the heart of the grandson of the Messenger of Allah, forgive me, forgive me." He asked permission to be the first person to take the first step, to be the first to go to martyrdom, and then he turned to the Kufa army and said, "O people of Kufa, you invited the grandson of the Messenger of Allah and then you left him, you promised to be loyal to him, then you drew your sword and took his place in Allah's earth. you didn't. You have withheld the water of the Euphrates, which the Nazarenes, Magi and Jews drink, from the grandson and family of the Messenger of Allah, and you betrayed the spiritual heritage of the Messenger of Allah," he cried out and made his side clear. Hur said, "By God, I see myself having to choose between heaven and hell. I swear to God, even if they will cut me into pieces and throw me into the fire, I will not choose anyone other than heaven" and made a move and fought until he reached martyrdom. Hussein looked at Hur's lifeless body and said, "O Hur, you are truly free in this world and in the hereafter, as they have named you." He chose the side of the free right and had an important place among the winners of that war.
