Canada is a country that stands out with its high level of prosperity and social opportunities and is a country that many people dream of. But we understand that the country where freedoms are talked about has built this prosperity on the blood of the oppressed people it has killed. As a matter of fact, the murder of children, which was brought to the agenda by Canada's official news agency, Canadian Press, made our hearts ache and we saw that the murderers were dirtying every inch of the place step by step. The news in question brought to the surface the genocide that took place in the church, the centuries-old suffering buried in the ground, and we tried to connect what we saw with what we heard.
According to the news reflected in the media, the bodies of 215 children were found in the garden of the Kamloops Indian Boarding Church, which was operating in the country between 1869-1978. The school in question operated until the church's 1996 date, and during this period many Native American children were taken from their families under pressure, brought here and murdered. No matter how many centuries, how many years, how many days have passed, the genocide leaves the same effect on every person who has not lost their conscience, and the pain is stuck in our throats.
Legend has it that at that time, more than 150,000 indigenous children in Canada were forcibly taken from their families and placed in church-affiliated schools, where they were subjected to physical and sexual abuse, used in medical experiments, and murdered.
Whether the genocide took place in Srebrenica, Palestine, Myanmar or Spain, the pain it left behind is always the same, and mourning unites people of conscience.
Children whose kites taken away
While our people focus on news of epidemics and deaths, discussions on vaccines and where politics will evolve, our brothers in East Turkestan are being torn from their children, their core values, the land where they were born and raised, and they can neither make their voices heard nor get out of the trap in which they were trapped. Uighur Muslims, who are left alone, are subjected to genocide by the Chinese regime.
One million children from East Turkistan are imprisoned in institutions created under the name of education camps, and the conditions under which these children live and what their fate will be is unknown. Children who are separated from their families by pressure are removed from their cultural values and forced to become disidentified.
The Holocaust has the same effects all over the world, and the victims are cut off from the world. As a matter of fact, Uyghur parents whose children are taken under duress can only see them once a month and see them under surveillance. Children do not have the right to go out, use symbols related to their self-worth and speak their mother tongue.
The remains of the genocide that emerged in Canada had a great impact in the country, and people left children's shoes and toys on the stairs in front of the said church. The Canadian president expressed his regret for the incident and apologized to the families of the children who died. However, Uyghur children cannot find support from international institutions and organizations, political authorities, or media institutions, and Uyghur children are left alone and helpless.
There is no compensation for the genocide, because neither the statements made nor the steps to be taken can restore the rights of the oppressed who were massacred, and relieve the pain in our consciences. However, action can be taken to block the path to genocide, and measures can be taken to break the wrist of invading China, which forcibly separates Uyghur children from their families and locks them in camps, and takes a step back. But unfortunately, the stories of children who are sacrificed to political calculations and interests start and end with drama.
Genocide feeds on violence and hatred. All the systematic massacres committed by France on the African continent, the Americans on the Indians, the British on the Indian subcontinent, the Israelis on the Palestinians, the Serbs on the Bosnians are genocide and this is the biggest violation of human rights against his own kind. No matter who committed the genocide, every person with a conscience must stand against it. This is a fundamental responsibility for every person who claims to be human.
