President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the members of his new cabinet. The vice president and 15 of the 17 ministers have changed. Handover ceremonies are held for new cabinet members.
Former National Intelligence Agency (MIT) Director Hakan Fidan, who was appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took over the task from Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu with a ceremony. After the handover, Fidan and Çavuşoğlu made a statement in front of the ministry.
Cavusoglu said following words:
"Handover ceremonies are a very precious tradition of our state. It is both a farewell and shows continuity in the state, regardless of who the office is, it is the state's flag race. I decided to study international relations when I was a high school student in my hometown Alanya. In those days, treacherous terrorist organizations were martyring our diplomats, and we were waking up to sad news every day. But we also saw this. Turkish Foreign; It did not show any hesitation, fear, or uneasiness for a single moment. Flag; It was passing from an ambassador, a consul general, an official to another. I also participate in this relay race; I wanted to have the honor of representing our glorious state and nation. As the Minister of Foreign Affairs, it was our privilege to take over that flag, first by the will of Almighty Allah, then by the authority given by our nation and by the honors of our President."
The handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan said following words:
"Today, I am very happy and proud to join you on the 100th anniversary of our Republic and the 500th anniversary of the foundation of our Foreign Ministry. During this duty, I will do my best for the integrity, security and welfare of our state and nation, in line with the vision and values represented by our re-elected President, who gained the great appreciation of our nation. I will continue to advance the vision of national foreign policy, which is based on the independence of our state from all spheres of influence and the sovereignty of our nation's will."
