After terrorists looted the houses on July 5, 1993, the village had set fire to the village and threw those who resisted to the burning houses. 33 people were shot and burned, but the pain of the massacre did not rest despite the remaining quarter of a century.
Head of the Beautification and Improvement Association of Turkey, Mehmet Ali Dikkaya, who made statements to the Milli Gazete, said that they had been waiting for justice for 26 years and that the Başbağlar massacre should be investigated.
Başbağlar Village Beautification and Development Association President Mehmet Ali Dikkaya, speaking to our newspaper, "I wish God's mercy again for our martyrs. I curse the massacres. We've been on fire for 26 years, seeking justice. The justice we expected did not come. Good thing there is an afterlife. We will take our rights in the Hereafter. But we want to see something in the world. We would like to establish a research commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and investigate what happened in Başbağlar. Many things were neglected in Başbağlar. On the morning of the massacre, no fire was intervened. The village was set on fire. Empty casings were not ballistic. Our martyrs were not autopsied. During the court process, the defendants were not brought to court, witnesses and defendants were not confronted. We want all these to be investigated", he said.
Turkey recalled as the worst year spent in 1993 that established a commission related to the massacre Dikkaya said, "was established east of commissions related to the massacre. But this commission never went to the East. He came to Istanbul and met with us. He didn't go to Başbağlar and do a review. During the period of Mr. Abdullah Gül, the Presidential State Supervisory Board was instructed. In 2013 they listened to us. But nothing happened. We are now asking our President to give instructions to the Presidential State Supervisory Board. We were provoked and provoked from the massacre to the end of the court. But we did not come to provocations, provocations. They did their best for the Alevi Sunni conflict, but we did not fall for this game. We buried our pain and trusted our state. We expect steps from our state on this issue," he added.
53-year-old Hatice Özdemir, who lost her husband and relatives in the massacre, said, "On the evening of the massacre, my wife went to the mosque for the evening prayer. I went to my parents to get goat milk for my one year old daughter. When I arrived at my parents, I heard that terrorists came to the village. So when I wanted to gather my children together, a terrorist jumped in front of me. They gathered the women somewhere and the men together. After a while in the gathering place, we heard an intense gunfire. After the terrorists left, we waited during the night and went to the place where the gunfire came when the morning prayer entered. I didn't want to think that my wife might be dead, but they were all martyred when we left. We want the killers found. Our biggest problem is the martyrdom in the village of Başpınar minibuses do not come out or difficult. I want our martyrs to be transported to our village and to be buried where they were martyred," she said.
