Bulgaria continues to apply visas to Turkish citizens. However, Turkey provides unilateral convenience to Bulgarian citizens because "the foreign currency will enter the country".

Wrong economic policies and the resulting erroneous policies have dragged both the economy and the citizen to a dead end, especially since 2018.

As a reflection of these, the loss of value in TL benefited everyone except our own citizens.

Even from Bulgaria, one of the poorest countries in Europe, flocks of people come to shop.

According to the regulation published in the Official Gazette, Turkey will provide visa exemption for Bulgarian citizens to travel and transit to Turkey.

A similar visa exemption agreement was made for Norwegian citizens in June.

FROM EUROPE'S POOREST COUNTRIES…

While 1 Turkish Lira was approximately equal to 1 Bulgarian Lev in 2010, especially after 2018, the pointer has completely turned to Leva.

Leva, which was at the limit of 3 liras at that time, entered a rapid upward trend against TL and rose to the level of 9.3 liras within 4 years.

The appreciation of the lev against the TL caused even the citizens of Bulgaria, one of the countries with the lowest income in Europe, to flock to Turkey for "shopping purposes".

Bulgarian citizens are now making literally everything from needles to threads, from market shopping to medicine, from our country, which is "very cheap" for them.

Goods that were carried in bags in the past are now realized by filling the trunks of cars.

Visitors from Bulgaria constituted 8.3 percent of the visitors coming to Turkey in the same period.

A “ONE-SIDED” AGREEMENT WAS MADE FOR NORWAYS ALSO

According to the President's decision published in the Official Gazette, visa exemption will be provided for Bulgarian citizens for their touristic trips and transit passes with a maximum stay of 90 days within 180 days.

According to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 944,366 Bulgarian citizens visited Turkey in the January-May period.

Visitors from Bulgaria constituted 8.3 percent of the visitors coming to Turkey in the same period.

A similar "unilateral" visa exemption agreement was concluded for Norwegian citizens in June.
