Pakistani police arrested former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at his home in Lahore, by court order.
According to reports in the Pakistani media, Khan was found guilty in the trial where he was tried for failing to disclose the details of the gifts he received while he was prime minister.
The Islamabad Court sentenced Khan to 3 years in prison, for which he had an arrest warrant.
Pakistani Justice Movement Party (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayoup Khan announced that Imran Khan was arrested in his post on the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan's Minister of Justice and Law, Azam Nazir Tarar, had previously stated that Imran Khan was banned from politics for 5 years.
According to Pakistani law, prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats and senior government officials are obliged to report gifts they receive from foreign statesmen to the department called "Toshakhana".
It is stated that the gifts presented to Imran Khan during the PTI government were not reported.
