NATO, which is the command center of many operations in the Middle East, especially Turkey, is not enough to have 28 known military bases in our country, as well as expropriations of hundreds of millions of liras are made on behalf of the organization from the budget created with the income of the citizens. Properties purchased with citizens' money are used by NATO.
EXPENDITURES INCREASE EVERY YEAR
According to the budget expenditure figures announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, it was observed that the shares allocated from the budget and the purchase of new properties to NATO, which surrounds our region, are increasing every year. While "NATO Expenses and Real Estate and Expropriation Expenditures", which is included in the general budget of the state in 2013, was 31 million 29 thousand TL, this figure was 33 million 554 thousand TL in 2014 and 63 million 144 thousand TL in 2015.
EXPENDITURES DOUBLED AFTER 15 JULY
The most striking date regarding expenditures was 2016. 67 million 269 thousand TL was spent on NATO, which was named with the treacherous coup attempt of 15 July, from the budget in the year of the coup attempt. These numbers started to increase after 2016. 89 million 749 thousand TL was spent in 2017. Thus, 284 million 745 thousand TL was spent from the budget for NATO between 2013 and 2017.
REPAIR OF NATO PROPERTIES ALSO PROVIDED FROM THE BUDGET
Nearly half of this figure spent for NATO was made in 2019. According to the central budget expenditures of 2019, a total of 139 million 990 thousand TL was spent on behalf of "NATO Expenses and Real Estate and Expropriation Expenses". In 2019, the purse was opened not only for spending on new properties to NATO, but also for the repair of existing properties. 13 million 346 thousand TL was spent for construction and repair costs.
