Galatasaray defeated Aytemiz Alanyaspor 5-1 in Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig on Sunday evening, further narrowing the gap between the league leaders. The match at Turk Telekom Arena saw the Lions find the first goal in the 30th minute with a header from midfielder Nigel de Jong, when Sneijder crossed the ball for an assist in a set piece.
However, Alanyaspor equalized the match in the 40th minute with a header goal from Sajad Shahbazzadehgalinbolagh. Just before the midpoint, Alanyaspor broke the deadlock with an own goal, giving Galatasaray the 2-1 lead at halftime. The second half belonged to the Istanbulite giants, behind Sneijder's marvelous performance. The Dutchman scored a goal and assisted three of Galatasaray’s five goals.
With the win, Galatasaray boosted their points total to 33 and stayed third in the league, also closing the gap with leaders Basaksehir to only three.
