A striking step has come from Gambia to end the systematic genocide and atrocities against the Arakanese Muslims.

To investigate genocide and rape crimes against Arakanese Muslims in Myanmar, the West African country Gambia applied to the International Court of Justice.

Gambia Justice Minister Abubekir Marie Tambadou said it was embarrassing that Myanmar did not do anything in the face of genocide in Myanmar.

Tambadou stated that they applied on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to investigate the genocide against Arakanese Muslims.

On the other hand, the ineffectiveness of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) against these atrocities around the world causes the reaction of Muslim societies.

ETHNIC CLEANING TO ARAKANESE

In Arakan, there were clashes between Buddhists and Muslims in 2012, thousands of Muslims were massacred, hundreds of houses and businesses were set on fire.

The Myanmar army and Buddhist nationalists started mass violence, citing simultaneous attacks on the border posts at Arakan on 25 August 2017.

According to the UN, the number of refugees who escaped from the oppression and persecution in Arakan after August 2017 reached 900 thousand.

International human rights organizations have proved that hundreds of villages have been destroyed with satellite imagery.

The UN and international human rights organizations call violence against Arakanese Muslims 'ethnic cleansing' or 'genocide'.

The 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide includes the signature of Gambia and Myanmar.

The Myanmar government has yet to respond to the Gambia's application.
