Making a statement on the issue, Assad approached the normalization of relations with Turkey positively and noted that they expect concrete steps from Ankara. Syrian President Bashar Assad recently met with academics and journalists at the presidential palace in Damascus. Al-Akhbar, who broadcasts in Lebanon, relayed what was discussed at the meeting, which lasted more than four hours, on current developments. According to the media in question, Assad also spoke about relations with Turkey. Referring to President Erdogan's messages to normalize relations with the Damascus administration, Assad gave Ankara the green light.

ANKARA IS MORE DETERMINED THAN ARAB COUNTRIES

Syrian President Assad stated that the relations between Damascus and Ankara are currently carried out at the intelligence level and that the level of relations is expected to increase in the near future. Noting that they see Turkey as willing to meet Syria's demands, Assad said, “We want concrete steps. Ankara is more determined than some Arab countries on the issue of political transformation, but it is not possible to say whether Turkey is acting sincerely or for political maneuvering.”
